Katerina, or ‘Katka’ as we call her, is a bright DIY sort, who can typically come up with a few different good solutions for any challenge – especially if that challenge concerns numbers or a spreadsheet.

Part of the ‘Back Office team’, she makes sure that our company functions as smoothly as possible. That of course includes overseeing budgets, payrolls in many different countries, financial planning, internal controls, and countless other related aspects that we most likely take for granted.

Katka is too down-to-earth to want us to call her ‘doctor’, but she holds a Ph.D. in Economics and Management from Zlin University and an MBA from VVIS.

For an introduction, how would you describe yourself in 3 sentences?

I like to think of myself as a purposeful and out-going person, I love to learn new things and I do everything to the fullest. In addition to my passion for finance, I am also a dedicated mother and wife. Since I have kids, I have become an expert in multitasking…😊

Let's dig a little deeper into your connections with Runecast. What is your position in the company?

I joined Runecast at the beginning of 2018. My position is Head of Finance, which means that I cover almost all of the company's financial activities.

What is the most exciting part of this work for you?

Working at Runecast has never been stereotypical or boring. Everyday offers a new challenge which I love because it enriches my work experience and personal development. I have met a lot of amazing people which wouldn't have been possible if I hadn't joined Runecast. I am forever grateful for that.

How do you keep yourself organized?

I'm a to-do list kind of person. I take notes almost always and everywhere. For each day, I schedule tasks according to their priorities. However, sometimes other issues arise and need to be solved right away, at which point I usually just throw my to do list out the window. But honestly, I'm more than happy when I can check off a task as completed.

Investing has become a big topic these days. As you work closely with money, what are your top 3 tips on how to survive inflation.

That's a million-dollar question - I don't think there are 3 tips to survive it. At present, inflation is so high and can only be offset by high-yield investments, which also carry a higher degree of risk. Of course, savings are subject to lose the most in checking and savings accounts because the interest rate on these accounts is always lower than current inflation. Whether you decide to invest in stocks, commodities, cryptocurrencies, etc, it's a good idea to diversify risk and invest only what you can afford to lose. Don't put all of your eggs into one basket.

What do you enjoy doing when you are not working?

My family is my greatest passion. I have two daughters and a husband, to whom I try to dedicate as much time to as possible. I love moments when we can travel together. I like taking photos and doing sports and staying active in general. When we have free time without our kids, my husband and I go somewhere by motorcycle. We love disappearing into nature and enjoying peace that comes with it.

What do you like the most about Runecast?

Runecast has grown to have a very special place in my heart because it's all about people. It's made up of one big team full of amazing and talented people, who are passionate about the same goal and the end result is a very good product which offers great value to our customers. I am glad that I can be a part of such an amazing family.

Imagine, you won 500 000$ in the lottery. What would you do with this money?

I'm sure we would buy some real estate and preferably by the sea, perhaps in Croatia😊.
